Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.

Last week me and my boyfriend went over to Amsterdam for a few days to visit my sister who lives over there. Whilst there we checked out this amazing art museum - Stedelijk Museum. It’s a contemporary art museum in the ‘museumplein’ area in Amsterdam. I have to say it was a great museum, it seems i am often travelling around different places and i almost always check out the contemporary art museums wherever i am and me and Jake were both in agreement that this was one of the best. As a Graphic Design student it was great to actually see some Graphic Design, lots of great work by artists such as - Anthon Beeke, Ingo Maurer, Grapus, Walter Nikkels, Karel Martins and Lex Reitsma (plus many more) if you find yourself in Amsterdam make sure you check it out.

A sneek peek at a project i have just completed for D&AD student awards. It works in six sections to create a building hoarding for the V&A, focusing on the women stood outside queuing up for the new underground exhibition space to open. Going through the decades from when the original ‘Great Exhibition’ took place and the establishment of the V&A itself. On the way to the present day we see many buildings based in the albertopolis appear where they were established, on the timeline, along with transport and other things which affected London during the time. The blank women are for members of the public to get involved, take there photo as part of the line, the last woman representing 2010 decade is left blank, for the public to start there own line and become a part of history!

ycn student awards

a competition brief from ycn - this is where they give creative students a variety of briefs to pick and work on as part of a competition which could help to get your name out there! I chose the UK GREETINGS which was basically to design 4 greetings cards, i went that one step further and designed 8 cards, some envelopes and wrapping paper! The concept is all about forgotten days and those times you want to get in touch with a friend and send them a card but there is no birthday or calendar event. Each card focuses on different phrases about catching up, and taking the meaning literal. This is just a little peak, i have entered the competition so we will see what happens! I might sell them in my own little online shop - the crafty badger so watch out!

a little trip to london

Last week me and my boyfriend took a trip over to London for some research for my D&AD brief involving the V&A. I got loads of photos and plenty of notes. Was great to have a little research trip and see everything i needed too. A little later in the day we also checked out The Tate Modern.
